TEMP-TEAM Sunderland has been helping one of its clients – specialist hardware manufacturer Penn Elcom – to raise funds for Willow Burn Hospice by selling used drinks cans to scrap metal merchants EMR (European Metal Recycling).
TEMP-TEAM liaises between EMR, which buys metal for recycling, and Penn Elcom to ensure that drinks cans are collected or delivered to EMR’s premises at Tyne Dock. The proceeds are then donated to Willow Burn Hospice.
This on-going project has so far raised approximately £60 for the hospice – a figure that will continue to rise as the fundraising initiative continues over the coming year.
TEMP-TEAM Sunderland is now hoping to encourage many of its other clients to get on board with the project in order to raise as much money for Willow Burn as possible.
Michelle Lightfoot, senior industrial consultant at the TEMP-TEAM branch, said: “It’s been great helping one of our clients to support our dedicated charity by collecting and selling drinks cans for recycling.
“All companies have corporate responsibility and I think that in this current climate, where charities really are affected, we all need to do what we can to help them.”
Willow Burn Hospice provides palliative and end-of-life care to those with life-limiting illnesses, enabling them to achieve the best quality of life.
Susan Jones of Willow Burn added: “As far as I know, our relationship with TEMP-TEAM is the first of its kind in the recruitment industry.
“Willow Burn has a reputation for innovative fundraising partnerships, and in constructing our partnership around the TEMP-TEAM business model, we are continuing to grow this reputation.”
Since partnering up with Willow Burn Hospice in March last year, staff across the TEMP-TEAM branches are continuing to support it in various ways, with some currently in training for this year’s Great North Run on behalf of the charity.
In addition to this partnership, TEMP-TEAM as a whole also looks to support various other community projects and events.
