We’ve been working with Redcar Racecourse since April 2014. Redcar Racecourse is a Racing UK affiliated course in the North East of England with a rich local heritage, having been based at its current location since the late 19th century. It is affectionately known on the racing circuit as Yorkshire’s seaside track and is renowned for its perfectly flat, oval track.

We supported many of Redcar Racecourse’s objectives through the use of social media, in particular Twitter and Facebook. We chose to focus on these platforms as they allow us to interact, engage and connect with the local community easily.
We posted photographs and information about events and activities taking place at the racecourse and in the Redcar area. We also shared interesting articles that people from Redcar and horse racing enthusiasts may be interested in, such as the below:
Social Media Competitions
In addition to posting content and interacting with the followers of the racecourse’s social media accounts we also came up with and implemented several competitions in the run up to several race days.
One such competition we ran was to win two VIP tickets to the racecourse’s Caribbean Carnival raceday. The theme was the ‘Pirate Pet Competition’. For this we asked people to dress their pet as a pirate or something else Caribbean themed and send us photographs, with the best one winning the prize:
