‘Boro Boys’ to cycle 250 miles in one day for charity

A team of 12 Teesside friends calling themselves the Boro Boys will take on the mammoth challenge of cycling 250 miles in one day with the goal of raising £10,000 for breast cancer care and prevention.

The ‘Coast 2 Coast 2 Coast’ on 20th June 2015 will take the friends out from behind their desks and from the coast of Saltburn to Morecambe – and back again!

Money raised will go to Breast Cancer Campaign and Breakthrough Breast Cancer, which works to fund research to stop breast cancer and make sure women suffering from the disease get the best possible care.

The 12 friends have set up a JustGiving page to support their goal, making donating to Team C2C2C quick, easy and secure.

This cause is a heartfelt and personal one as many of the men have been personally touched by the disease. Tim Hodgson’s wife Sarah is one of the more than 50,000 cases of breast cancer in the UK this year.

Sarah said: “I feel fortunate that I’ve been given the opportunity to see my children and grandchildren grow up, all of which would not have been possible without up to date research and evidenced based care.”

In addition to Tim, the team consists of:

Dean Benson – Visualsoft,

David Duke – Visualsoft,

Mark Leader Leader Online,

Adam Woodhead – Geocore,

Mike Moore – Geocore,

Duncan Jenkins – Kaefer Opus,

Mark Brown – Estates Manager for Carillion at The James Cook University Hospital,

Nik Tunley – Endeavour Partnership,

John Manders – Middlesbrough Council,

Simon Barnfather – TEWV NHS

Micky Gettings

Adam Woodhead of Geocore said: “It will be quite a challenge, but we are more than ready to take it up for such a worthy cause.

“Breast Cancer Campaign and Breakthrough Breast Cancer has provided invaluable support to our friends, loved ones and colleagues, and we are excited to contribute to help others experience the same.”
