A Darlington-based company, POBoxes.com, has secured in excess of £100,000 of investment to create a ground-breaking app and expand the business further.
The recently established post box services business, managed by father and son team Anthony and Alex Redpath, has created a revolutionary app that will change the way many receive and view their post.
The free PO Box App allows people to access their mail through smart phones and tablets. Account holders receive notifications when their mail has been uploaded, which can then be accessed from anywhere with an internet connection.
Last year the company noticed an increasing demand for its services, after customer sign ups quadrupled. They decided to capitalise on this and design an app appropriate for its target market.
As well as this, the thriving business has opened a new office in Darlington’s Blackwell Lane Business Centre and is looking to recruit a Mail Handler.
Alex Redpath said: “After Richard Winhammar, an investor in the IT sector, saw our business’ potential and invested in excess of £100,000 in it we were thrilled! A fraction of this money has gone towards developing our app. The rest of the investment will go towards sustaining our recent growth.
“It’s great to be running a North East company that’s leading the way in post box services. With the rise in popularity of smart phones and tablets, we knew this was the perfect opportunity to drive our business forward.”
Anthony said: “It’s an amazing time for us and we’re just so extremely excited for the future. 2014 is our year and we plan to grow the business through the creation of North East jobs.”
Looking forward, the company hopes to introduce a franchise model overseas and expand the business further.
The company offers confidential mail scanning services, specialising in mail forwarding, mail scanning, complete virtual office services and fully personalised phone answering services.
