North East based PR and marketing agency Harvey & Hugo has delivered a lecture to educate young people about the importance of social media and online PR.
Harvey & Hugo’s managing director Charlotte Nichols delivered an inspirational lecture to 3rd year undergraduate students from Teesside University Business School.
The lecture discussed how the online world had changed PR strategies. Charlotte said: “The internet has made Public Relations, ‘public’ again! The lecture provided students with insights into how social media can be used to promote businesses and how the traditional world of PR has been transformed.
“It’s great that Teesside University recognises the benefits of business people with real experience talking to their students. I think businesses and universities should work closely together to make students more work-ready.”
Harvey & Hugo has a solid reputation in the North East as a specialist in digital PR and feedback from students at the lecture was very positive.
Gemma Worth, a Business Management and Marketing student at Teesside University said: “We’ve had many guest speakers come into the university and this was one of the most engaging we’ve experienced. Charlotte really got us thinking about the impact online PR and social media can have on a business.”
Charlotte who has also recently been delivering employability lectures with Darlington Cares at Darlington School of Mathematics and Science, aims to set up a PR academy later this year. She said:
“Not enough students are leaving with work-ready skills. I think by collaborating with local schools, colleges and universities and offering a work experience programme, hopefully we can help address this.”
