Washington-based Findley Roofing has quadrupled last year’s turnover in three months after appointing a new sales and marketing director.
The leading North East roofing specialist has increased its £2.6m turnover, made in 2016, to £10m in 12 weeks, after taking on Tony Finnegan to help grow the business.
Tony, who believes his success is down to his man management and motivational skills, has played a significant role in turning the Company vision around, which includes future plans to grow its headquarters.
“All human beings deserve respect and compassion, that’s key to getting the most out of people,” said Tony.
“Great leaders work with people, rather than above them and make the team feel appreciated. I love nothing more than working with someone who has been having a hard time, to help them turn things around and achieve great things.
“It gives me great pride when I see my team achieving and taking that forward. Our new vision is ‘go big or go home’.”
Middlesbrough-born Tony, joined the family run Company, with 28 years of experience, having started out as a door-to-door canvasser aged 18. A year later, he was managing 4000 people and winning national awards.
He then went on to become the owner of a business which employed 200 staff before being reunited with Findley MD, Grant Findley earlier this year.
The pair have known each other since Grant was 17-years-old, when he was starting out as a canvasser and Tony was his boss.
Tony continued: “It’s great to be reunited with Grant and to see him running his own business now. I knew he had great potential as a 17-year-old when he started out and it’s great to join his business and start delivering results.
“Grant and I have the same values. We both care about people and that attracted me to join the team. I love what he’s doing with the HESP project and I’m going to be playing an important role with this.
“Work is and has always been my passion. I don’t have children and I’m devoted to my career, working at least 12-hour days and weekends too.”
Due to the overwhelming success of the last three months, Findley Roofing is currently recruiting for 63 vacancies including admin staff, bookkeepers, sales team, labourers, joiners and experienced roofing and building contractors.
Speaking of the rapid growth, Grant said: “Things were ticking along quite nicely but Tony has made me realise the true potential of the firm and we have all stepped up a gear.
“Since his arrival, Tony has made such an impact and motivated the whole sales team to perform at their best and I’m really excited about what the future holds.”
