From carbonara to the catwalk in the name of charity

A North East restaurant is mixing high-end fashion with its high quality Italian fare in a series of events it is hosting in support of regional charities.

Lucia’s Italian Kitchen will play host to a series of fashion events teaming up with fellow Yarm High Street retailers including The Little Bra Shop, Monsoon Interiors, The Flower Room and bridal shop, Miranda Marie to hold fashion shows with a difference.

The next event, on December 2, will see guests treated to a glass of bubbly and a two-course Italian meal before they take in the latest trends and Christmas offers from Yarm’s best retailers.

This will be the second fashion event the restaurateurs have hosted, having held an event in October with Diva –– which raised £200 for charity.

A proportion of proceeds from the last event were donated towards the North East’s Children’s Hospital – a cause which is close to the restaurant owners’ hearts.

Gemma and Chris Holloway, who run the restaurant, experienced the invaluable work of the hospital at close hand when their daughter faced a major operation several years ago.

Gemma Holloway said: “When our daughter Lucy had major surgery at the hospital, the team were amazing and made what was a traumatic experience as easy as it possibly could be. So we’re delighted to be able to support such a worthy cause, while giving customers a few nights to remember.”

Tickets for the next event on December 2 are £14.95, include a two course meal, a glass of fizz on arrival and front row seat for the extravaganza. Proceeds from this event will go to Breast Cancer Care.
