With more than 1.2 billion users worldwide, it is still the largest and most popular social media network in the world. It celebrated soaring profits of 1.5 billion dollars in 2013 and if Facebook was a country, it would be the third largest in the world by population.
Bearing this in mind, you’d think today’s media would be filled with success stories to mark the 10 year celebration, however a great deal of the coverage is negative with worries for the future.
This negative coverage makes me wonder, can the media not just be happy for Facebook? Not even just for today?
Although it may not be our favourite social media platform at the moment, we still use it daily and it has an extremely strong reach and influence. There is no denying that it has revolutionised the whole media industry and even human socialisation.
Well done Facebook, enjoy your 10th birthday and maybe just for today, ignore the critics!
