How to cook up the tastiest social media during Darlington’s Bar & Restaurant Week

Foodies across Darlington are getting ready to raise a glass to Darlington’s first Bar & Restaurant Week, which launches this weekend.

More than 15 bars and restaurants, both high street names and independent venues, around the town will be serving up a wide range of special deals during the 11-day event, which starts on August 20th and finishes on August 30th.

This is the perfect event for those involved to take advantage of social media to spread the word about their tasty deals and delicious dishes.

We thought we’d share some of our top tips on how to make a big impact during the event:

Use the right hashtags

To make sure you’re targeting the right audiences, use the Bar & Restaurant Week hashtag #DDLBRW and use #Darlington to attract people in the area.

Also keep your eyes peeled for any trending hashtags as the event may develop its own, unique hashtag during the week.

Interact with the organisers

Use @DarlingtonBID to engage and interact with the organiser, Distinct Darlington. By tagging @DarlingtonBID in your posts and photos, the organisation will be more likely to retweet and reply to your tweets, which will ultimately spread the word about your business.

Share photos

Photos are a great way to capture your audience’s attention and to show off the meals and drinks you’ve got to offer.

Build strong relationships with your community

Be as friendly with your Twitter followers as you would be with your customers. It’s incredibly important to be social on social media and you can easily build relationships with your customers, and potential customers, by tweeting, retweeting and following local people’s profiles.

Encourage loyal customers

Thanking your customers on social media by replying, quote retweeting or retweeting their posts, will show them you appreciate their investment into your business and will, hopefully, encourage them to visit again. Saying thank you with simple tweet can make them feel extremely valued.

The next week is going to be a very exciting on for Darlington and we can’t wait to see you deliver some tasty tweets.
