How to use your Twitter geolocation to improve your local marketing

Do you want to reach more Twitter users in your business’ area? Of course you do!

We know that Twitter is a fantastic tool for building brand awareness but cutting through the noise and finding the right people to connect with can be challenging.

One of the most effective ways to connect with Twitter users in your location, is to use geolocation data. By using specific location filters, you can improve your Twitter marketing efforts and bring focus to your social media goals.

“So, what do I need to do to get my geolocation coordinates?” I hear you asking. It’s simple, just follow this step-by-step process:

Get your coordinates from MyGeoPosition.com

This is a handy site that will give you your business’ geographic coordinates.

To get your data:

  1. Head over to mygeoposition.com
  2. Type your business address in the search box
  3. Click calculate geodata
  4. You will then be given the coordinates
  5. Copy your latitude coordinates and head over to Twitter

Once you have your data, you can then use it to identify and engage with Twitter users near you. This is the ideal way to connect, share interests and offers with people in your town/city.

How to use the coordinates:

  1. Log into Twitter
  2. Go to the search bar and type in ‘geocode:’
  3. Paste in the data you copied from MyGeoPosition.com
  4. Then type a comma and then a mile (mi) or kilometre (km) value
  5. Once the search is complete, click the Accounts tab to see which Twitter accounts are in your area
  6. Look through the results and connect!

If you want to create a more engaging presence, you can also enhance your search by using Twitter’s filter options to explore news, photos and live tweets from this location.

This is a great and most importantly, quick way to boost your business’ local social media marketing efforts.
