Ladies’ and Gents’ Evening is ‘Redcar-pet’ event at racecourse

The Ladies’ and Gents’ Evening at Redcar Racecourse is one of the fashion and social highlights in the Redcar calendars.

This year was no different, with everyone dressed to the nines in fabulous dresses and dapper suits.

Alongside the packed racecard there were best dressed competitions, a fun casino and a photobooth.

The best dressed competition is always a highlight of the evening. The judges mingled with the crowds, scouring through the attendees to find the winners of the ladies, gents and couple categories.

Lee Bartram took away the prize for the gents category, bagging him a suit, shirt and tie worth around £400 from Baker’s Tailoring of Linthorpe Road, Middlesbrough.

Wendy Leneaghan, dressed in Blonde and Wise, won the best dressed lady category winning herself a beautiful Swarovski pendant and earrings set provided by Market Cross Jewellers.

Lady Luck was watching over Wendy as she also took away the coveted best dressed couple award with her husband Steve.

Collecting her prizes as her husband cheered from the stand, Wendy said: “It’s absolutely fantastic to win this competition at 50 years old! I’m a local girl, and the support from the people of Redcar was wonderful.

“We’ve had a great day, and we won the first three races too, so it’s been a lucky one.”

Amy Fair, general manager of Redcar Racecourse added: “It’s great to see everyone dressed so nicely and enjoying themselves. The best dressed competition was, as ever, a pleasure to be part of and I would like to thank the sponsors for making it such a special occasion.”

The remainder of the 2014 season at Redcar Racecourse has just one more feature meet; the famous Two Year Old Trophy on Saturday 4th October, which will be celebrating its Silver Anniversary at the racecourse this year.

There are many hospitality options from the Dine & View package in the Crow’s Nest Restaurant, to racegoers’ packages including admission, a racecard, food and drink.

Parties of 10 of more can also save over 20% when they book their grandstand or course enclosure admission tickets in advance.
