The Company, which has 16 branches throughout the UK, has gifted a 20ft storage container to a specialist centre managed by the Children’s Hospice Association Scotland (CHAS).
CHAS provides the country’s only hospice services for children and young people with life shortening conditions. The charity runs two hospices, Robin House in Balloch and Rachel House in Kinross, which provide home services, respite and end of life care for families in need. Over 415 families currently benefit from the endeavours of CHAS and its volunteers across Scotland.
Robin House recently acquired a Kubota ride-on lawnmower, which was needed to maintain the six acres of land the centre was built on. The extensive gardens are used by children for outdoor activities and need regular maintenance, unfortunately the centre lacked a safe space to store the machine and protect it from the elements.
Gardener, Margaret Brown, invited Mobile Mini’s Glasgow Sales Executive, John Colgan, to visit Robin House and see first-hand the benefit of the gardens and activities to the children staying at the centre. Following the visit, John was more than happy to provide Robin House with a storage solution, free of charge.
“I’ve been managing the garden for five years now, which has been developed specially over the years to assist with respite for the children,” said Margaret.
“It has a sensory support area with a fruit and vegetable patch and a pirate ship for active play. It’s a fantastic respite area which needs a lot of care to keep running.
“The hospice has never worked with Mobile Mini before and it’s been a thoroughly pleasant experience from beginning to end.
“I got in touch by email to see if and how the company could help us and everyone we’ve dealt with has been so cheerful, right down to the delivery driver! The container is an excellent solution for us and we’re really grateful for Mobile Mini’s donation.”
John said: “Corporate Social Responsibility is an integral part of our business and we’re dedicated to making positive contributions to our community.
“CHAS is an incredible organisation, providing essential care to hundreds of families, so we were thrilled to hear from Margaret and we’re so proud to be able to lend our support.”
Mobile Mini’s Community Involvement Programme offers free of charge container hire to non-profit or voluntary organisations. For a worthy cause, all its UK branches donate up to ten containers a year, at no cost, for up to six months.
