One of the region’s largest arenas prepares for a packed week with press conferences, a sponsor unveiling and a 2003 England Rugby World Cup winning visitor.
Mowden Park is set to use The Northern Echo Arena to its full potential, with three key events which further define it as a core business, events and sports hub within the region.
The first is a press conference taking place in the media suite at the arena with the England Rugby World Cup winning captain Katy Mclean MBE and the current England captain Tamara Taylor, both of whom are Mowden Park players. They will field questions on the forthcoming international double header being held at the arena on the 13th March. The experienced pair, boasting over 150 caps between them hope to be taking part in the landmark game with the added bonus of playing in front of a home crowd.
Lee Rust managing director at Mowden Park said: “We’ve been working extensively with Darlington Borough Council and the Rugby Football Union to ensure the evening is a success, this is the first time an event of this nature has taken place and it’s a privilege for Mowden to be selected to host it.”
Secondly, the high flying club are due to announce a new major partnership for the Mowden Park community scheme. The partner has been linked to a number of significant investment projects across the region and regard Mowden’s vision as an ideal alignment with their corporate social responsibilities. This investment will result in a number of new multi-sport initiatives being launched which will make way for new jobs.
Finally, with Mowden Park at the beginning of its three year Duke of Edinburgh Award licence, Lawrence Dallaglio OBE will attend the arena to provide his support through the Dallaglio Foundation. During his time there he will be meeting and inspiring local youngsters taking part in the scheme.
These three events represent Mowden’s future ambition. Lee Rust said: “It’s a great collection of announcements and events for us as a club and it really encompasses what we’re trying to achieve, not just for Mowden Park but for the town and wider region.’’
