They say it’s not what you know, it’s who you know – but we think it’s a combination of both! Strong ties to other businesses and businesspeople in the local community not only makes it easier to find potential clients and associates, but is also a great way to share ideas, spark new ones and discuss important issues for you and your business.
Here are a few of the networking options in the North East:
BNI is a global network with several local groups. It works because it only allows one representative from each trade or profession to join any BNI group and meetings are spent collaborating and sharing ideas, referrals – and business cards, of course!
Network North offers a “guaranteed return” on becoming an active member, which includes access to a variety of business skills workshops and seminars. Attending one of the weekly local meetings is no more than £10, so why not see if it’s for you?
The Tees Valley Business Club hosts monthly meetings and fosters a strong network of Tees Valley businesses. In addition, they put on ten events a year which are all included in the annual membership fee of £100 as well as open to guests.
The Mussel Club is free to join and includes access to an online networking portal as well as free and paid events. The atmosphere is relaxed and informal, with upcoming events including free Friday breakfasts!
North East Chamber of Commerce (NECC) events are diverse and for anyone interested in doing better business and improving business conditions in the region. They host localised traditional ‘mix-and-mingle’ events as well as those centred on different values and issues affecting business.
Don’t forget to look out for Harvey & Hugo’s next Netting event as well!
So what are you waiting for? Get networking, North East!
