The Polam Hall Old Scholar’s Association (PHOSA) was pleased to welcome a new President this weekend.
Charlotte Nichols, who was a student at the school from 1986 – 2002 and a governor for three years has taken on the prestigious role in the Alumni association.
PHOSA has been an integral part of Polam Hall’s history since its founding in 1894 and has allowed old pupils to remain in touch and successfully raise funds. It also supports current pupils with awards and bursaries, helping the school to reach into the community and reward high achievers.
Charlotte, who is managing director at Darlington based PR and Marketing agency Harvey & Hugo said: “It’s an honour to be chosen as PHOSA President. I was lucky enough to win an award donated by the Old Scholars while I was at school which helped me fund my Great Britain Junior water polo career. It meant so much to me at the time so I want to help others like this too.”
“This is an exciting time for Polam Hall School with the free school application pending. Hopefully my role with PHOSA can support the school in this unique phase and the Free School decision will enable the school to share their outstanding offering to all.”
Former president Emma Thwaites commented: “We are delighted to welcome Charlotte as the new President of PHOSA. I’m sure she will do a brilliant job during this important time for the school and we are all looking forward to working with her in the coming year.”
The ceremony to officially inaugurate Charlotte as President involved the traditional planting of a rose in the school’s rose terrace and was part of a weekend of celebrations for all of PHOSA’s members.
Throughout the year Charlotte will take part in fundraising events, hold the President’s Lunch and President’s Evening. She will also be part of the team continuing relationships with all PHOSA members in the production of their regular newsletter updating on all the school news and campaigns.
