Darlington music festival to have a global impact with Oxjam Darlo

Since 2014, Oxjam Darlo has raised thousands of pounds to help Oxfam fight poverty and suffering in the UK and abroad. Now in its fourth year, the popular local music festival is back with a one-day takeover event in Darlington town centre.

Taking place on October 28th, the festival will focus on promoting home-grown talent across multiple genres. Seven town centre venues have signed up to be part of the takeover, where they will showcase local acts.

Marketing Coordinator  Grace Lancaster said: “After a short break last year, we’re really excited to be back with our main takeover event for 2018.

“We have some fantastic venues and bands on board and look forward to seeing local talent flourish from indie to rhythm and blues, while raising some vital funds for Oxfam.”

Festival-goers can also sample a very special ‘Jammin’ Ale’, which has been created by Darlington-based Rocket Town Brewery to also raise funds for  the cause.

To kick off  the fundraising for this year, the Oxjam Darlo team have already held an Ultimate Music Quiz at the Holy Family Social Centre in Cockerton, which included live music rounds and saw proceeds raised for Oxfam.

Members of the public have the opportunity to be part of Oxjam Darlo’s success story by volunteering to help out. By sparing a couple of hours, volunteers will receive a free wristband which will  grant them entry into all the venues at the festival.

To find out more about volunteering at Oxjam Darlo, please get in contact with a member of the team via the festival’s social media.

Tickets (which will be exchanged for wristbands on the day at the Oxfam shop on Skinnergate) are on sale now.  For a limited time only, festival-goers can purchase early bird tickets online for the special price of just £6 each.
