North East to go retro as major music festival comes to town

A SERIOUS dose of disco fever returns to the North East as events company Events4Fun brings an extravaganza of 70’s inspired musical talent to the region.

Thousands of revellers are expected at the Reminisce 70s festival on July 13th at Preston Park, Stockton-on-Tees, where a host of top acts will perform. Over 1,400 fans attended last year’s launch party in the park.

Among them will be world renowned tribute acts Voulez Vous (Abba), Los Palmas 6 (Madness), Village Boyz (The Village People) and local band Medicine Show, which wowed crowds at last year’s event and returns by popular demand.

The event promises to create a 70s-style fun and friendly picnic atmosphere and fans are encouraged to bring food, deck chairs and soft drinks to join in the mass celebration of retro music.

Events4Fun promoter Maurice Olum said: “The North East is famous for its appreciation of high quality music events and festivals and we think Reminisce will prove another successful event on the back of last year’s hugely popular show.”

The event will enlist the services of a number of North East-based events and service suppliers, including technical stage, PA, lighting, security and stewarding firms and will employ around 35 people on the day.

Tickets for the event, which is being hosted in association with Stockton Borough Council, are priced at £20 and available from Maskerade Costumes (01642 670 077), Arc Box Office (01642 255 199) or online at www.reminisce.co.uk.

Meanwhile, ahead of the show fans are being given the chance to win a gazebo which has been donated by Tesco’s Ingleby branch to enable one lucky winner to enjoy the festival in style. A caption competition will take place on the festival’s Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/Reminisce70s
