The flourishing firm has had an excellent start to 2014 having added The Wooler Estate Agency Office of Sale & Partners, in Northumberland, and Hives Planning, in Berkshire, to its expanding portfolio.
As well as this, Melissa Lines, who brings over 19 years’ experience having successfully ran her own online agency, Big House Little House, has joined the Darlington branch as Head of Estate Agency.
Melissa, whose previous business was launched in 2009, will work alongside Simon Bainbridge, a partner in the business specialising in estate agency and auctions.
Melissa said: “When the position at Smiths Gore came up, it was an opportunity I felt I couldn’t pass as it is a brand I have admired for a long time.
“Having been born and raised in Darlington and North Yorkshire, I’ll also be operating in a housing market I know and love so well.”
The housing market continues to grow and demand is rising throughout the country, spurred-on by Help to Buy schemes and the meteoric price increases in London after a quiet few years.
Andrew Turner who heads up the agency division of Smiths Gore said: “These are exciting times for the firm as we expand to meet the demands of the recovery in the housing market.
“We are seeing real strength coming back into the market in the North-East and Yorkshire.”
The company acts for clients with total landholdings in excess of 2 million acres and has offices throughout the UK.
