Following on from our Facebook Live video, we thought we’d blog about some of the most popular questions we are asked about Snapchat:
Q: Isn’t Snapchat just for teens and sharing naked pictures?
A: No, out of the 200 million active users:
Q: Why should my business be on it?
A: Snapchat is growing faster than Facebook and Twitter did in their first four years and it’s already the second most active social network behind Facebook with 6 billion video views per day.
Q: Can you only use it on your mobile?
A: Yes, its content is exclusively for mobile which makes sense as over 80% of people use mobiles for social media activity.
Q: What is it about Snapchat that makes it so popular?
A: Photo and video content can be as short as 1 second or as long as 10 seconds and the content disappears after a maximum of 24-hours. This suits our ever shortening attention span of 8 seconds (less than a goldfish which is believed to be 9 seconds).
Q: For all of those not on Snapchat, how can you best describe it?
A: It’s like having your own reality TV show that you can record to whenever you like.
Q: How can you connect with people?
A: There are 5 ways:
Q: Where does the content go after it’s been used?
A: Snapchat automatically deletes the content of your Snaps from its servers after they detect that a Snap has been opened or has expired.
Q: Why do you have to use a vertical screen?
A: Because Snapchat is an exclusively mobile platform it believes that vertical best suits mobile.
Q: What is Snapchat Live?
A: Live Stories allow Snapchatters who are at the same event or a specific location to contribute Snaps to the same community narrative.
Q: What’s the story behind the ghost logo?
A: Snapchat’s logo is named Ghostface Chillah, based on Ghostface Killah of the Wu-Tang Clan. The ghost represents the here and gone nature of the content.
This is just a bitesize version of the Snapchat session we did on Facebook Live. For more information and a talk through how to use Snapchat, view our live videos here:
