Gone are the days where the more followers an account has the better. Now, engagement and interaction are key for a successful social media presence. After all, what is the point of promoting your services to an audience who have no interest and are never going to use them? It is ultimately much better to have a smaller following with whom you can build relationships and do business. For example, if you are an electrician in the North East of England, having followers who live in Texas isn’t likely to get you more business.
It is true, however, that you do need enough followers to help you spread the word, just the right ones. So how do you go about targeting the right followers? Well, rather than follow a lot of people in the hope that they will follow you back (and that neither of you will bother one another again) the way to increase your profile is to create engaging content that will be Shared, Liked and Favourited, and therefore seen by others who will then follow you.
So if engagement is the key, how do you go about it?
This, of course, takes up a lot more time than if you were to concentrate on follower numbers, but it is infinitely more rewarding for your business. At Harvey & Hugo our new social media packages involves interaction, engagement and much more. To find out more visit http://www.harveyandhugo.com/public-relations/social-media/
