The Darlington based radio station has launched ‘Hilarity Bites the Week’ alongside Hilarity Bites Comedy Club, the only show of its kind in the North East.
The hour long broadcast will feature comedians Tony Jameson and Andy Fury taking a sideways look at the week’s news, as well as featuring visits to people and places of interest in the region.
Hosted by the station’s breakfast presenter Antony Collins, it promises to be the perfect way to wind down on a Sunday.
Tony said: “No other station in the North East is giving comedians a chance to sit down and be funny on the airwaves, so it’s brilliant that Star Radio is doing that. We’ve had great fun recording a couple of pilots and our first episode received some lovely feedback, so it’s great that the general public has backed us too.”
John Clayton, Star Radio’s managing director, said: “It’s great to support local talent as well as trendsetting in the region. We’d been to a couple of Hilarity Bites gigs and really wanted to get involved with what they’re doing. We feel that with our combined knowledge and reach across the region we’ll make the perfect team!”
Hilarity Bites has ran gigs in Darlington, North Yorkshire and at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival for almost a decade, bringing the likes of Sarah Millican and John Bishop to its stage, as well as promoting the best new talent. ‘Hilarity Bites the Week’ is the company’s first venture into broadcasting.
Neil Jollie, owner of Hilarity Bites comedy club, said: “This is a fantastic platform for Andy and Tony, as well as ourselves. The first show was hilarious and whilst it’s great to be able to entertain people in the region, it’s also a fantastic way to let even more people know about the shows we run.”
The show is aired every Sunday from 9pm – 10pm. For more information and to download ‘Hilarity Bites the Week’ podcasts, please visit: http://www.starradionortheast.co.uk/
