Periscope is Twitter’s new live-streaming video app that allows you to watch and broadcast live video globally.
Founded by Kayvon Beykpour and Joe Bernstein, here’s how they describe it in their own words:
“It may sound crazy, but we wanted to build the closest thing to teleportation. While there are many ways to discover events and places, we realized there is no better way to experience a place right now than through live video. A picture may be worth a thousand words, but live video can take you someplace and show you around.”
You may also have heard of Meerkat, another live-streaming app, however a key difference is that Periscope saves the video streams for up to 24 hours when you’re finished, whereas Meerkat’s live video disappears at the end, similar to Snapchat.
Live streaming looks set to become a regular a part of our lives in 2015 thanks to more frequent Wi-Fi networks and faster 4G mobile networks so make sure you don’t miss out!
